Planning a testing programme to support the SAP rollout
The company we supported are a global organisation with offices across four countries. To promote efficiency across the business, the company focused on deploying a single ERP system for accounting, operations and procurement. They decided to implement the industry-leading SAP system throughout their organisation.
Enterprise-wide planning systems are at the core of an organisation and it’s essential that all the currently disparate IT systems work together seamlessly. To implement this effectively requires extensive testing at each stage, and the most efficient way of doing this is with a testing management programme.

Affluent’s testing solution
Our first step was to plan the testing programme to support the SAP rollout, and we did this by identifying resources and allocating tasks and responsibilities. We agreed timelines with the client and began the coordination with the staff at the company to execute the test cases.
The status of the test cases, and that of the project, were tracked and signed off at pre-determined phases. There were four test phases across the 11 month project timeline, and in that timeframe we ran more than 500 test cases.
Key information:
Tools used: SAP Solution Manager and Microsoft’s SharePoint
Test team size: 40 business users across four countries
Four test phases with over 500 individual test cases

Outcome
At the time of writing the project is still LIVE, with the testing infrastructure continuing to ensure efficient adoption of the new ERP system. As part of the project we trained business users at the client to use SAP in the most productive way for their business.
